Summaries & Concepts
How AI summaries and concept extraction work in Kognific.
When you add a source, Kognific automatically generates a summary and extracts key concepts. Both appear in the AI Analysis section of the Details tab once processing is complete.
What's generated
Each source receives:
- Summary - a 2-3 paragraph overview of the content, covering the main ideas, arguments, and conclusions
- Key Findings - 3-7 bullet points highlighting the most important takeaways
- Methodology - a description of the research methods used (only shown when applicable)
- Limitations - a description of the study's acknowledged limitations (only shown when applicable)
- Concepts - 5-20 key terms and definitions, covering technical vocabulary, theories, frameworks, and important entities from the source
Where to find them
Open any source and look at the Details tab in the right panel. Scroll down past the metadata fields to the AI Analysis section. Each section appears with its heading and content.
Processing states
- Loading - skeleton placeholders appear while the source is being processed
- Complete - the full analysis is displayed
- Failed - a message appears if processing could not complete for a particular section
How concepts work
Concepts are key terms extracted from the source, each paired with a short definition. They help you:
- Quickly understand what a source covers
- Spot connections between different sources
- Build familiarity with domain-specific terminology
Concepts are ordered by their importance to the source's topic.
Usage
Summary and concept generation count toward your monthly AI credit allowance. See Subscription Plans for details.
