Kognific

PDF Viewer

Read PDFs with page navigation, zoom, table of contents, and annotations.

Kognific has a built-in PDF viewer for reading research papers, reports, and other documents directly in the app.

Opening a PDF

Click any PDF source in your Library to open it. The viewer loads on the left side of the screen, with the Details, Annotations, and Ask AI tabs on the right.

Navigate between pages using:

  • Arrow buttons - click the previous/next arrows in the viewer toolbar
  • Page indicator - the toolbar shows your current page and total (e.g., "3 / 24"). Click the page number to type a specific page and jump directly to it.
  • Scrolling - pages are displayed in a continuous vertical scroll. Scroll naturally to move through the document.
  • Keyboard - press the left or up arrow key to go back, or the right or down arrow key to go forward

Zoom

Adjust the zoom level using the - and + buttons in the toolbar. The current zoom percentage is displayed between them. Zoom ranges from 50% to 300%.

Table of contents

If the PDF includes a document outline (bookmarks), a table of contents button appears in the toolbar. Click it to open a sidebar listing the document's sections. Click any section to jump directly to it. Press Escape or click outside the sidebar to close it.

Highlighting text

Select text in the PDF to create annotations. A color picker appears above your selection. See Annotations for the full workflow.

When you click an annotation in the Annotations tab, the viewer automatically scrolls to the correct page and briefly highlights the annotation's location.

Processing banner

While the PDF is being processed by AI, a banner appears above the viewer: "Extracting content from this PDF with AI..." You can still browse the PDF while processing runs in the background.
