Viewing Sources

How to read and explore your processed sources.

Click any source in your Library to open the detail view.

Source viewer

The left side shows the original content:

  • PDFs open in a built-in reader with page navigation, zoom controls, and a table of contents. See PDF Viewer for details
  • Audio files show a playback player with play/pause and scrub controls
  • Video files play in a built-in video player
  • Web pages display the extracted article content as formatted text
  • Images display at full resolution
  • Text sources show the content as formatted text

While a source is being processed, a banner appears above the viewer: "Extracting content from this source with AI..."

Details panel

The right side has three tabs:

Details tab

Shows the source's metadata and AI analysis:

  • File info - file name, size, type, and a link to the original URL (for web sources)
  • Title, authors, year, DOI - click any field to edit it inline
  • Source category - select from Empirical, Review, Theoretical, Case Study, Book, Chapter, Thesis, Report, or Other
  • Citation - a formatted citation with a copy button. See Citations for details on styles and formats
  • Reading status - set to Unread, Reading, Reviewed, or Cited
  • Tags - add or remove tags
  • User notes - a freeform text area for your own notes about this source
  • AI Analysis - summary, key findings, methodology (when applicable), limitations (when applicable), and extracted concepts

Annotations tab

Shows all your highlights and notes on this source. Click any annotation to jump to its location. See Annotations for details.

Ask AI tab

Chat with AI about this specific source. See Ask AI for details.

Reading status

Track your progress on each source:

UnreadHaven't started reading yet (default)
ReadingCurrently working through it
ReviewedFinished reading and reviewing
CitedUsed in a draft or paper

Change the reading status from the Details tab when viewing a source.
