Adding Sources
How to add research sources to your Kognific library.
Click the Add Source button in your Library to open the source creation dialog.
Drag and drop a PDF file into the upload area, or click to browse your files. The file name auto-fills the title, but you can change it.
You can upload research papers, reports, textbooks, or any other PDF document.
Web page
Select the Web source type, then paste the article URL into the URL field. Kognific fetches the page content automatically.
Pages behind paywalls or login walls may not be accessible.
Audio
Select the Audio source type and upload your audio file (MP3, WAV, etc.). Kognific transcribes the recording with speaker detection and topic markers. This works well for recorded lectures, podcast episodes, and interviews.
Video
Select the Video source type and upload your video file. Kognific transcribes the speech and describes visual elements like slides, diagrams, and equations.
Image
Select the Image source type and upload your file (PNG, JPG, etc.). Kognific reads any text and content visible in the image, including diagrams, charts, and screenshots.
Plain text
Select the Text source type and paste or type your content directly into the text area. Text sources are added instantly with no processing wait.
Adding metadata
For any source type, you can optionally fill in:
- Authors - separate multiple authors with commas
- Year - publication year
- DOI - the source's digital object identifier
- Category - classify as Empirical, Review, Theoretical, Case Study, Book, Chapter, Thesis, Report, or Other
Adding metadata improves organization and allows Kognific to generate formatted citations.
Adding sources from inside a project
You can also add sources directly from a project's Sources tab. Click Create Source to upload new material. The source is automatically added to both your Library and the project.
File size limits
Maximum file size depends on your plan. See Subscription Plans for details.
